Quick start

For the most predictable setup, use a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router. A phone or laptop hotspot is also suitable when configured for compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

  1. Charge the device and prepare your network. Turn on the router or hotspot before switching on AuraX. Have its exact network name and password ready.
  2. Switch on AuraX using its physical power switch. It tries to join its saved Wi-Fi for approximately 30 seconds. If there is no saved network, it creates its own access point immediately.
  3. If it joins your network, connect your phone or computer to the same network. Open http://aurax.local, or open AuraX Finder and scan for devices. You can also use the device's IP address.
  4. If it does not connect, join its AuraX-XXXX network. Stay connected even if your phone says there is no internet. Open http://192.168.4.1 in Safari or Chrome.
  5. Set your Wi-Fi in Settings. Enter the SSID and password, then tap Save. The device restarts to apply changed Wi-Fi credentials. Reconnect your phone to the intended network and open AuraX again.
  6. Choose how to play. Use Effects for a built-in look, Programs for an uploaded show, or Audio in AuraX Finder to react to live sound.
AuraX works without internet. Local control and stored programs do not need a cloud connection. Downloading software, checking for new firmware and streaming online music do require internet access.

Wi-Fi & connection

One shared network

Your router or hotspot provides the network. AuraX devices, your phone or tablet, and a computer running Ignis Studio join that network. No Bluetooth pairing is required for normal AuraX control.

Wi-Fi routeror a phone / laptop hotspot
SAME LOCAL NETWORK
AuraX devicesplay programs and effects
Phone / tabletbrowser or AuraX Finder
Computerbrowser or Ignis Studio
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
Use a 2.4 GHz network. A 5 GHz-only hotspot cannot be used by these AuraX devices.
Security
WPA2-Personal is the recommended compatibility setting. Avoid WPA3-only mode if the device cannot join. Use your own strong network password.
DHCP
The router or hotspot must assign IP addresses automatically. Enable its DHCP server.
Local access
Do not use an isolated guest network. Client isolation can prevent your phone and computer from reaching the devices even when all are connected.
Network name
SSID and password are case-sensitive. Enter them exactly; watch for spaces and automatic keyboard corrections.
Signal
Keep the network source nearby and avoid placing it behind metal or other obstructions. Check the signal indicator in the device header.

Opening the device

In a browser: enter http://aurax.local in the address bar, not a search field. If the name does not resolve, enter http:// followed by the device's IP address.

In AuraX Finder: connect to the same Wi-Fi, allow requested local-network discovery permissions, then scan and open a device. The app displays the device's own interface. Rescan after a network change.

In Ignis Studio: open AuraX export and use Scan. The device list shows individual IP addresses. Use these addresses in any phone or computer on that network. The Devices list in AuraX UI also links to other discovered devices.

With several devices, aurax.local opens one available device, not a separate page for every prop. Use the device list or individual IP addresses to choose the correct one. IP addresses can change when reconnecting to a network.

When AuraX creates its own access point

If the saved network is unavailable during the approximately 30-second startup window, AuraX creates AuraX-XXXX. Each device has its own network suffix. This fallback network stays available instead of repeatedly switching between Wi-Fi modes.

After fallback AP has started, merely turning on the saved hotspot later does not trigger continuous background scanning. Turn the hotspot on first, then restart AuraX, or enter the credentials through Settings and save them. This stable AP behavior keeps setup accessible.

  1. Join the correct AuraX-XXXX Wi-Fi network on your phone or computer.
  2. Accept Stay connected or Use without internet if prompted.
  3. If the automatic sign-in window does not appear, open http://192.168.4.1 manually.
  4. Use the UI directly for that device, or save the name and password of your shared Wi-Fi in Settings.
A phone may prefer mobile data over Wi-Fi without internet. If neither aurax.local nor the IP address opens, temporarily turn off mobile data while staying connected to Wi-Fi. Also check whether a VPN blocks local connections.

iPhone hotspot

Enable Allow Others to Join and, where available, Maximize Compatibility. On supported iPhones, compatibility mode uses 2.4 GHz and WPA2. Leave the Personal Hotspot settings screen open while connecting AuraX, and start the hotspot before powering on the props. See Apple's hotspot troubleshooting guidance and Wi-Fi compatibility details.

03

Your control panel

The same AuraX interface is used in AuraX Finder and in a regular browser. The five main tabs are arranged in one row with an icon above each name on mobile.

Device name & IP
Identify the prop you are controlling and its current network address.
Wi-Fi indicator
Shows received signal strength. A stronger signal generally makes control and uploads more reliable.
Battery indicator
Shows an estimated charge level, not a guaranteed runtime. Brightness and the displayed colors affect consumption.
SYNC
Enables or disables synchronized commands for the configured sync channels. An orange active control indicates that sync is enabled.
Power icon
Controls LED output from the UI. It is not the physical battery switch and does not fully disconnect power. With SYNC enabled, power actions may affect the group.
Programs
Upload, select, reorder and play show files created in Ignis Studio.
Colors
Choose effect colors, palettes, color value and overall LED brightness.
Effects
Choose a built-in effect, save it as a preset, or sequence presets in a playlist.
Audio
Run music-reactive effects using sound captured by the controlling phone or supported computer.
Settings
Change the device name, Wi-Fi, rendering direction, sync channels and firmware.
Devices
Open another discovered device. If a prop is missing, check its Wi-Fi connection and rescan, or enter its IP address directly.
Before changing a single prop: turn off SYNC on the device you are controlling if you do not want that action to reach other devices.

AuraX Finder, WLED Native and LedFx

AuraX Finder discovers devices, opens their own UI and provides supported mobile audio capture. WLED-compatible discovery clients such as WLED Native can be used to find a compatible AuraX and open its UI; this does not turn AuraX2 into the full WLED interface. Use the AuraX page for its programs, presets and playlists.

LedFx is an optional external realtime controller on a computer. Compatible AuraX firmware can accept its LED stream over the shared local network. It is not required for the built-in mobile Audio mode. Stop the external stream before testing the device's own effects, programs or audio controls.

04

Programs & Ignis Studio

Create your own shows in Ignis Studio

Programs are created in Ignis Studio on a Windows PC or Mac. Use it to build a timed show from your own pictures and patterns, ready-made effects and a music track. AuraX Finder controls the props on a phone or tablet; it is not the timeline editor.

Version 3.1.2 includes automatic update support. Use the download links below to install the desktop editor.

Your first program, step by step

  1. Start a project and set up a timeline. A timeline is the sequence of visuals for one output. Set its pixel count to the correct value for your prop. Use additional timelines when different props need different visuals.
  2. Import your pictures and patterns. Use Import or drag files into the Pictures library. You can use your own artwork, logos or repeating patterns, for example as PNG or JPG files. Design a custom pattern in an image editor, then bring it into Studio like any other picture.
  3. Place visuals on the timeline. Drag a picture or pattern from the library onto the timeline. Move the clip to the required time and adjust its start and end or length. Arrange clips in the order you want them to appear.
  4. Add and customize effects. Drag a built-in effect from Effects onto the timeline. Select its clip and adjust colors, palette, speed and the available effect parameters in Properties. Pictures have their own settings, including brightness, orientation and rendering frequency.
  5. Add music and preview the show. Import a supported audio file, such as MP3 or OGG, and place it on the audio track. Use the waveform to align visual changes with the music. Play the timeline and inspect the live preview, then adjust the timing and looks.
  6. Save the project, then export for AuraX. Save an editable .ipr project for future changes. Use Export AuraX to export the selected timeline as a program and upload it to a device, or save the exported file for upload through AuraX UI. A saved project and an exported device program are different files.

MOBILE CONTROL

AuraX Finder

Find devices, open their UI and use supported mobile audio capture.

Use the latest app version with AuraX2 firmware 1.2.

A program is a prepared, timed show stored on the device. Once uploaded, AuraX plays it locally; it does not need Ignis Studio, a phone or internet to keep the stored show running.

Prepare and upload a show

  1. In Ignis Studio, arrange pictures and effects on your timeline and preview the result.
  2. Export for AuraX with the correct pixel count for your prop. Use the value specified for your model; do not guess from the number of LED strips.
  3. Upload through Ignis Studio's Export AuraX device list, or save the exported file and choose it under Programs > Upload program files in AuraX UI.
  4. Keep the device powered, the network stable and the uploading screen open until completion. Wait for the program to appear in the list; reaching 100% transferred is not a substitute for the final success message.

The UI accepts .axp / .apx AuraX program files and compatible .pix files. An Ignis Studio .ipr project is an editing project, not a file to upload directly to AuraX.

Playback controls

1-5 buttons
Quick-select a numbered program slot. The file list shows what is assigned to that slot.
START
Starts the selected program from the beginning. With SYNC enabled, the matching program slot is requested on participating devices.
STOP
Stops playback. Use the power icon when you specifically need the LEDs off.
Up / Down
Change the file's position and therefore its program slot. Keep corresponding slots consistent across your group.
Delete
Removes that program from the device and frees space. Keep a copy of important programs on your computer.
Programs tab with five quick-select slots, upload control and a stored .axp program.
Programs: local storage and playback controls.

Storage and file checks

The free-space value refers to the active program storage. AuraX checks available space and supported file information before accepting the upload. Modern AuraX files also carry a pixel count; a mismatch must be corrected in the export or by the supplier's configuration, not by randomly changing Advanced settings.

Large files are supported on devices without XTSD too, but only if they fit in the free internal space. Some models include optional external XTSD storage for longer shows. Exact usable capacity is shown by the UI and depends on the fitted hardware and existing files. Device configuration and preset/playlist definitions stay in internal storage; XTSD is used for program files.

For a coordinated performance: upload every device's intended file into the same numbered slot, then use one START command in AuraX UI or START PROGRAM ON ALL DEVICES in Ignis Studio. Files may contain different visuals on different props. Starting devices separately with their physical switches is not a precise synchronized start.

A stored program does not play a music soundtrack from the prop. Use the phone, computer or sound system for music. Ignis Studio's all-device start can start its timeline from the beginning together with the device command.

What happens when a program ends?

The exported program carries the Post-behavior chosen in Ignis Studio: Exit to standby finishes and clears the LEDs, Repeat program starts the show again, and Keep last frame holds its final frame. Choose this when exporting; it is separate from a preset playlist's end-behavior selector.

05

Colors & brightness

The Colors tab changes the colors used by ordinary built-in effects. An exported picture program has its own recorded colors; choosing a palette is not a global recoloring tool for that file.

  1. Select Custom if you want your own color combination.
  2. Tap a Color slot. The number of available slots depends on the selected effect.
  3. Use the color wheel to choose hue and saturation, and Value to adjust how bright that individual color is.
  4. Adjust LED brightness to change the overall light output.
Value
The brightness of the selected custom color. At a low value, that color becomes darker even if overall brightness is high.
LED brightness
The overall output level. Lower values reduce glare and battery consumption. Safety current limiting can reduce actual output further.
Color Palettes
Thirty ready-made choices, including Custom. Tap a palette to apply its color combination to compatible effects.

The palette strip is a reference to its colors, not a photograph of the final effect. Movement, color mixing, effect parameters, LED hardware and viewing conditions influence the result.

Start at low brightness when setting up indoors. Bright white generally consumes more power than a dimmer or single-color look.
Colors tab showing a color wheel, custom color, Value, LED brightness and palette choices.
Color selection and overall brightness are separate controls.
06

Built-in effects

Firmware 1.2 includes 46 ordinary effects. Solid stays at the top; the others are listed alphabetically. Tap an effect to apply it. Its relevant controls appear beneath the selection.

Colors are adjusted in the Colors tab. Parameter changes act on the current effect; you do not need to upload a new show file.

What the sliders mean

Speed / Rate / BPM
Movement speed, repetition rate or rhythmic tempo, according to the effect. BPM is a programmed rhythm, not automatic listening to music.
Width / Tail / Size
The extent of a moving band, dot, eye or trail. The usable range can depend on the prop's logical pixel count.
Density / Count / Bands
How many elements or bands appear, or how tightly the pattern is packed.
Frequency / Waves / Scale
The spacing, repetition or scale of the pattern. Noise 3 Scale changes the structure of the noise, not audio sensitivity.
Heat / Wave depth
The character or strength of the simulated fire or waves. These are visual effect parameters, not physical temperature settings.
Fade / Decay / Trail fade
How quickly old light fades away. The visible result depends on the individual effect.
Duty / Depth / Floor / Spread
Effect-specific controls for the on/off proportion, modulation amount, lowest level or distribution of colors.

Enter an exact value

For controls with an editable numeric value, tap the number to the right of the slider, type the value and confirm with Enter / Done or leave the field. On a keyboard, Escape cancels the edit. Values are limited to that control's allowed range.

Use a noticeable difference when comparing settings. Some visual changes are easier to see with a contrasting palette or a lower movement speed. Not every effect has every slider.

The controls change to match the selected effect.
Flashing-light caution: Strobe and other fast-changing effects can cause discomfort or trigger photosensitive reactions. Avoid rapid flashing around susceptible viewers and follow venue requirements. Photosensitivity information.
07

Saved presets

A preset is a named snapshot of an ordinary effect, its parameters, palette/custom colors, overall brightness and rendering options. It is not an Ignis Studio timeline file or an audio recording.

Save your current look

  1. Choose an effect and adjust its colors, parameters and brightness.
  2. In Effects, tap Save preset.
  3. Enter a clear Preset name and select its numeric ID.
  4. Tap Save. The preset appears in the heart-marked Presets view.

Each device supports up to 32 presets. IDs range from 1 to 65535 and must be unique across both presets and playlists on that device.

Row actions

Play triangle
Applies the saved look. With SYNC enabled, participating devices apply their own preset with that ID.
Pencil
Edits the name or ID. To replace its saved look with the current effect, select Use current effect settings before saving.
Download
Exports that preset for copying to another device.
Trash
Deletes the preset after confirmation. Remove it from any playlists that use it before deleting it.

Changing a preset's ID also updates its references in local playlists. It does not automatically change the libraries stored on other devices.

08

Playlists

A playlist automatically plays a sequence of saved presets. Each step has a duration. Once started, it runs on the device without keeping the phone or browser open.

Create a sequence

  1. Save the presets you want to use.
  2. Open Effects > Playlists and tap New playlist.
  3. Enter a Playlist name and an unused ID.
  4. For each step, select a preset and enter its duration in seconds.
  5. Use Add step, up/down arrows and the trash icon to arrange the sequence.
  6. Choose the end behavior, tap Save, then use the playlist's play triangle.

You can store up to 8 playlists, each with up to 32 steps. A step lasts 1 to 3600 seconds. Presets can be reused in several steps.

Choose what happens at the end

Hold last effect
Plays the sequence once, then leaves its final effect running.
Repeat continuously
Returns to step one and repeats until you stop it or select another output mode.
Turn off after last step
Plays the sequence once, then switches off that device's LEDs.

The active playlist row shows the current step and remaining time. Its Stop playlist square stops the sequence and holds the current ordinary effect. Use the main power icon for a blackout.

Selecting another ordinary effect, preset or program replaces the playlist. A completed playlist does not stop an unrelated or longer playlist on another device.

Playlist editor showing a playlist name, numeric ID, end behavior selector and four timed preset steps.
Each row is a preset plus its duration; arrows change the order.
After switching the prop off and on: a remembered running playlist restarts locally from its first step. Devices do not automatically restart each other during power-up. Use one synchronized play command for a coordinated group start.
09

Export & import

Preset libraries can be copied between AuraX devices or backed up on a phone/computer as .json files. This is separate from uploading program files.

Export

Use the download icon in a preset or playlist row to export one item. Exporting a playlist includes the presets it references. The Export library icon in the toolbar exports all presets and playlists.

The export dialog offers Download JSON and Copy JSON. If a mobile app does not support the download, use copy/paste or open the device in a regular browser.

Import on another device

  1. Open the destination device and tap Import library in the Effects toolbar.
  2. Select the exported JSON file, or paste its JSON text and tap Continue.
  3. Review the item count and choose how to handle IDs that already exist.
  4. Tap Import, then check the resulting IDs before using group SYNC.
Keep existing items
The default safe merge. Existing entries stay intact; imported conflicts receive new IDs. Playlist references are updated to the imported presets.
Overwrite matching IDs
Replaces items with matching IDs after a warning. Use this deliberately when distributing the same preset or playlist IDs to a group. A preset cannot overwrite a playlist with the same ID, or vice versa.
For group control, ID consistency matters. If import assigns new IDs, devices no longer respond to the same ID for those items. Check the IDs on every device. Export important libraries before overwriting them.

An import is limited to 32 KB and must fit the device's preset, playlist and step limits. Keep JSON files intact; changing only a name through the UI is safer than hand-editing the data.

10

SYNC & multiple devices

SYNC sends selected commands to participating AuraX devices. It does not copy program files, presets or playlists. Prepare the required content on every prop first.

  1. For the easiest setup, connect all devices and the controller to one shared Wi-Fi network.
  2. On each device, open Settings > Sync channels, enable sync and choose the intended channel or channels from 1-10.
  3. Save the settings. Devices must share an enabled sync channel to participate in that group.
  4. Enable the header SYNC button on the controlling device, then send a start or effect command from one controller.
Ordinary effects
The selected effect and its transmitted look settings are shared with matching AuraX group members.
Programs
Each device plays the program in its matching numbered slot. The command includes timing information so compatible receivers can account for a late arrival.
Presets
Each device applies its own locally saved preset with the requested ID.
Playlists
Each device starts its own locally saved playlist with that ID. Different devices can have different contents under the same ID.
Audio
Enable SYNC group in the Audio panel to send one source's audio data to compatible AuraX receivers. See the next chapter.
EXAMPLE / PLAYLIST #20

Prop A stores a blue-and-white playlist as #20. Prop B stores an amber-and-red playlist as #20. Starting playlist #20 with SYNC enabled starts each device's own sequence. The names and contents do not have to be identical; the ID and item type do.

If a requested preset or playlist ID is missing on a receiver, that device cannot play it. Its existing output is left unchanged and the UI may report the missing ID. All group members need firmware that supports preset/playlist SYNC.

Keep your group easy to manage

For reliable discovery, uploads and synchronized control, keep all props and controllers on one shared Wi-Fi network. If a prop responds to a group action but does not appear in the device list, check its network connection, rescan or use its current IP address.

Use a single source of start commands. Several controllers can override one another, and connecting props to separate setup networks is not a substitute for a shared group network.

Older Photon props

On the same local Wi-Fi, supported Photon devices can follow program START/STOP commands according to their configured Wi-Fi group. Put the intended program into the corresponding numbered prefix/slot on each Photon. Photon does not receive AuraX preset, playlist or Audio Reactive group data.

Test every prop before a performance. Different file contents, missing slots, connection quality and device generations can affect the visible result; SYNC is not a promise of zero network latency.

11

Audio Reactive

Audio Reactive uses your phone or supported computer as the sound source. The controller analyses sound and sends frequency/level data to AuraX, where the LEDs are rendered locally. No microphone module is required inside the prop.

On a phone or tablet, use the current AuraX Finder app. Opening the local HTTP device page in Safari or Chrome is enough for ordinary control, but is not the supported way to start mobile audio capture. The app must provide the audio-capture capability.

Start audio

  1. Open the device in AuraX Finder and tap Audio.
  2. Select a Source before starting.
  3. Tap Start and allow the relevant microphone or audio-capture permission.
  4. Choose an audio effect, its React to range and the desired parameters.
  5. Check that the input meters respond to the music. Start with moderate brightness and sensitivity.
  6. Tap Stop when finished to release capture. Do not rely on audio continuing after the app is closed, locked or suspended.
Microphone
Listens through the controlling phone or tablet. Place it where the music is audible; its position and room noise affect the response.
Device audio
Uses supported audio playback on the same controlling device. Availability depends on the app, OS and playback source. Some apps/content block capture.
Tab / system audio
A desktop browser option when supported and permitted. Browsers may require a secure context and a shared tab with audio. A plain local HTTP page may not offer capture.

iPhone / iPad: the current App Store version uses the microphone, not internal audio from other apps. On supported Android devices, Device audio may be available; some playback sources prevent capture.

If music is playing on a different phone, Device audio on the tablet will not capture that other phone's output. Use the tablet's microphone to hear the sound, or capture on the phone playing it.

Keep AuraX Finder open, the display awake and Wi-Fi connected during use. An interrupted source can make audio output stop; this is different from a locally stored program or playlist.

Stopped state. Source availability differs between AuraX Finder and a regular browser.

Make the response readable

Volume / Bass / Mid / Treble
Input meters show total level and frequency ranges. Beat indicates detected rhythmic attacks; it is not a guaranteed musical BPM reading.
Sensitivity
Raises or lowers input gain. Too little gives weak movement; too much can keep meters near maximum and flatten the differences between quiet and loud passages.
Smoothing
Controls how quickly levels fall after a peak. Less smoothing gives sharper changes; more gives longer, gentler fades. High smoothing can make the result feel less immediate.
React to
Full spectrum uses overall energy; Bass emphasizes low frequencies, Mids the middle range and Treble higher frequencies. All ranges may be active at once in dense music.
Driving level
Shows the selected response range. Use this meter to confirm whether a change of frequency selection changes the input driving the effect.
Effect parameters
Speed, width and decay labels depend on the effect. Decay changes visual trail persistence; it is separate from input Smoothing.
Brightness / Colors / Mirror
Set that audio look's output level, three color swatches and mirrored layout. Audio has its own color controls.
Reset arrow
Resets the selected audio effect's adjustable settings.

One source, multiple props

  1. Put the props on the same Wi-Fi and configure a shared enabled SYNC channel.
  2. Open one sender device in AuraX Finder. Enable SYNC group in its Audio panel and start capture from this controller.
  3. Compatible receivers show SYNC receiver. Do not start a second competing microphone/audio source on those devices.
  4. Use Stop on the sender to finish. A receiver's Stop receiving leaves group audio on that prop.

All receivers need firmware supporting group audio. Keep the devices within reliable connection range and test the complete set before use.

What the live figures tell you

The spectrum shows frequency-band activity. Where available, Analysis / Sent / Received show processing or packet rates, and LED FPS shows rendering rate. They are different measurements: rendering may run faster than new audio data arrives. Stream ACK measures acknowledgement timing, not the total delay from sound to light.

If audio stops or the app closes: check whether the prop remains reachable and whether ordinary effects still work. Record the phone model, OS/app/firmware versions, source and exact failure time, then contact support. Do not change hardware settings to troubleshoot a phone capture problem.

Settings & power-up

Device name
A recognizable name for identifying the prop in the UI and device list. Give each prop a distinct name.
WiFi SSID / Password
The shared network AuraX should join. Save changes and allow the device to restart; then reconnect the controller to the same network.
Reverse rendering
Reverses the direction of the rendered output.
Center mirror
Mirrors the rendering around the center. Use this for the intended symmetry of the look, not as a replacement for correct hardware configuration.
Sync channels
Chooses which groups the device participates in. Select matching channels on the props you want to control together.
Save
Stores the Settings form. Ordinary effect sliders are live controls; this button is for the Settings page.
Reboot
Restarts the controller. It does not erase the stored programs or library, but interrupts the current operation.
Advanced
Hardware/service configuration. Leave it unchanged unless instructed by IGNIS SHOP or you are qualified to configure that exact device.
Advanced is not needed for everyday use. Incorrect hardware or electrical settings can stop LED output or make the device unreliable. Do not change these settings by trial and error.
Settings page showing device name, Wi-Fi fields, rendering options and sync channels; password is concealed.
Save network and group settings here. Keep Advanced closed for normal use.

What happens after switching off and on?

AuraX remembers the saved ordinary effect and its parameters, or its selected program state. A remembered running program starts again from the beginning; a remembered running playlist restarts from its first step. This is a local restart, not a resumption of a shared performance clock.

A manually stopped playlist does not restart as a sequence. A completed Hold last effect playlist keeps its saved ordinary look; a completed Turn off playlist remains dark until switched on through the UI. Audio capture must be started again from the controlling app; it cannot be restored from the prop alone.

Allow a few seconds after changes for pending saves before cutting power. After a detected crash or abnormal reset, automatic playback may be suppressed so the device remains accessible for recovery.

For accurate group timing: wait until all devices are ready, then send a single program or playlist start command through the UI. Do not use sequential physical power-ups as a show-start trigger.
13

Firmware updates

The Settings page shows the installed firmware and can notify you when a newer version is available. Online checking needs internet access through the shared network. A fallback AuraX access point has no internet connection of its own.

  1. Update AuraX Finder from the appropriate app store, especially when a firmware release adds mobile audio features.
  2. Open Settings, review the firmware status or tap Check for updates.
  3. Download the correct official .bin file to the phone or computer. Use Version history to read release notes.
  4. Ensure the prop is charged or on reliable USB power. Keep your program files and exported preset library backed up.
  5. Tap Upload firmware file and select the downloaded .bin.
  6. Wait for upload completion and the automatic restart. Do not switch off the device, change Wi-Fi or close the uploading screen.
  7. Reopen or reload the device, confirm the installed version and test the required program/effect before a performance.

Update notification does not silently install firmware. The current UI downloads the file to your controller first; you then upload it to the device.

Use only the firmware intended for your AuraX model and starting version. Do not choose a factory/full-flash image for an ordinary UI update unless explicitly instructed. Older WLED-based units may need the specific upgrade procedure on the official page.

Uploading from the captive portal: the small Wi-Fi sign-in window may not support a file picker. Stay connected to AuraX-XXXX and open http://192.168.4.1 directly in Safari or Chrome. Tapping the upload button in the captive portal displays guidance for this.

Charging & care

USB-C charging

Charge using a suitable USB-C cable and the power supply specified for your prop. The general AuraX instructions recommend a 5 V / 1 A adapter. Indicator colors and charging arrangements can vary by model; follow the supplied product instructions.

Charge in a dry, ventilated place, away from heat and flammable materials. Stop using or charging a prop with a damaged cable, charging port or battery, unusual heat, swelling or odor. Contact support rather than opening a sealed device.

Battery and brightness

Runtime depends on brightness, colors, effect, number of LEDs and battery condition. Reduce brightness during setup and long rehearsals. The UI percentage is an estimate. Use the physical switch for storage; the UI power icon only controls output and is not a battery disconnect.

Do not leave the battery deeply discharged for prolonged periods. Recharge before storage and check it periodically. Follow the model's battery-care instructions rather than relying on the battery percentage as a precise measurement.

Water, temperature and storage

AuraX is not waterproof. Keep it away from water, rain, snow, condensation and high humidity. Store it dry, away from direct sunlight, heaters and hot vehicles. The general AuraX guidance advises against long-term storage below 5 °C / 41 °F.

Use and charge within the limits stated for your particular prop. Firmware does not define a universal certified ambient-temperature or humidity rating. If a cold prop is moved into a warm room, let it reach room temperature and dry fully before powering or charging it.

Handling and cleaning

These are electronic performance props, not impact-training tools. Avoid hard impacts, repeated drops and pressure on the charging connector. Switch off before cleaning; use a soft dry cloth. Do not immerse the device or apply liquid to openings.

General care reference: AuraX product instructions. That older document describes an earlier software interface; use this manual for current AuraX2 controls.

Troubleshooting

Start with power, network and the current mode. Avoid resetting hardware configuration or erasing storage as a first troubleshooting step.

AuraX does not join my router or hotspot

Turn the network on before AuraX. Check the exact SSID/password, 2.4 GHz availability, WPA2 compatibility and DHCP. Keep the prop nearby. On iPhone, use Maximize Compatibility where available and keep the hotspot settings screen open during connection.

If AuraX has already entered stable AP fallback, restart it with the saved network available, or save the Wi-Fi credentials through its AP. It intentionally does not continuously switch out of that stable AP to scan.

My phone says "No internet"

This is normal on a local router without internet or the AuraX access point. Stay connected. If local pages fail, temporarily disable mobile data and check for a VPN. Internet is not required for local ordinary control.

aurax.local does not open, but the device is connected

Use the current IP shown by Ignis Studio Scan, AuraX Finder or the router's connected-device list. Enter http://IP-address. Make sure the controller and prop share the same non-isolated network. On the device AP, use http://192.168.4.1.

The app cannot find all devices

Rescan after network changes. Check local-network/discovery permissions, current IPs and client isolation. A router's client list may contain phones/computers as well as props; those are not all AuraX devices. If a prop responds to group control but is missing from the list, check its Wi-Fi connection or open its IP address directly.

A program upload stays at 0% or fails

Read the error first: check file type, free space and the pixel count carried by the export. Keep the phone/app awake and use a strong signal. Verify final completion and the program list before trying playback. Do not change Advanced settings blindly to bypass a pixel-count error. Keep the original file for another attempt.

START is unavailable or the wrong show starts

Select an occupied program slot. Check the file list and its Up/Down order on each prop. The numbered start selects local content; it does not transfer missing files to peers. Verify corresponding Photon program prefixes separately if using older Photon props.

Only one device follows a preset or playlist

Check SYNC enable state, overlapping channels, compatible firmware and the same local ID/item type on every device. Import may have assigned fresh IDs to conflicts. Files/libraries are not copied automatically by a start command.

Audio is weak, delayed or appears constantly bright

Check that the selected Source is actually capturing the music and watch the meters. If levels stay near maximum, reduce Sensitivity. For a quicker response, reduce Smoothing and visual Decay. Compare Bass, Mids and Treble using music with clear frequency differences. Close competing controllers and stop external realtime streams while testing.

Audio stops after a while or AuraX Finder closes

Keep the app open and display awake; check Wi-Fi and capture permissions. Determine whether the app closes, only the audio stream stops, or the prop itself restarts. Test whether ordinary effects and the UI still respond. Send support the device name, phone/tablet model, OS/app/firmware versions, audio source and failure time. On iOS, a matching app crash or JetsamEvent report can help diagnose an app exit.

Only part of the prop lights up in audio mode

Compare an ordinary effect with audio on the same prop. Confirm which phone/tablet started capture and whether another controller or external LED stream is active. Send a video and screenshots to support. Do not alter the factory hardware configuration to compensate for an audio-only problem.

Upload firmware file does not open a file chooser

If you are in the automatic Wi-Fi sign-in window, open the IP address in Safari or Chrome instead. Stay on the AuraX network. In a regular browser or supported AuraX Finder version, select the downloaded official .bin file.

The prop is dark after power-up

Check charging, the physical switch and the UI power state. A playlist configured to turn off at its end can remember that off state. The device may also suppress autoplay after an abnormal reset. Try a safe ordinary effect at low brightness with SYNC off. Contact support if output is still absent; do not repeatedly change hardware settings.

Another application seems to override my look

Stop external realtime control such as LedFx and close other controllers while testing AuraX's local modes. An external stream or a second synced controller can replace the output you are trying to inspect.
